Co-Creative Partnership
The concept of co-creative partnership is central to the work done by Capital LifeWorks because it establishes the foundation of trust that must exist between a coach and client. The partnership focuses on the client’s agenda and objectives and is dedicated to the client’s success. As in any healthy relationship, both the coach and client must have respect for the co-creative partnership and honor their respective roles.
The Coach’s Role Includes:
- Establishing policies and procedures for the co-creative partnership
- Listening to the client on multiple levels and asking meaning, powerful questions that will elicit the client’s self-introspection
- Making sure the client feels safe and comfortable during sessions so as to enable the client to think and speak as openly and honestly as possible
- Assisting the client in setting goals and developing a plan for achieving those goals
- Helping the client to develop tasks and exercises that will reinforce the client’s progress and keep the process moving forward
- Monitoring the client’s accountability
- Being responsible for the continued efficacy of the co-creative partnership and the client’s progress
- Upholding the highest professional standards and adhering to the ethics rules and regulations established by the International Coach Federation
The Client’s Role Includes:
- Supplying the agenda or topics of discussion for each session
- Being willing to examine options to their usual way of thinking and behaving
- Doing whatever work they agreed to do in between sessions
- Keeping their scheduled sessions and paying their fees
- Being as honest as they possibly can with themselves and with their coach
- Knowing they are responsible for their own emotions, feelings and behaviors
- Being truly committed to making changes in their lives
