Managing your life Means Living Your Best Life.

Managing your life is an ongoing process of self-discovery and development requiring you to affect positive changes in your life. Your success at managing your life depends upon your capacity for self-awareness and commitment.

Self-awareness is the mental energy behind your thinking and your behavior. It provides the filters through which you view yourself, your environment, and your relationships. It also influences your desire to make changes in your life. In order to make positive changes, your self-awareness needs to be strong and clear so you can:

  • understand what is working or not working in your life;
  • determine what to add or subtract from your life;
  • connect to your true source of motivation; and
  • make changes based on informed decisions that will move your life forward.

Commitment is adding action to your desire. Your success at making changes in your life — at managing your life – requires more than just by thinking and desire. It also requires taking appropriate and necessary action. The best way to go about it is by taking things once step at a time and separating the changes you desire to make into specific, reasonable and realistic goals.

Successfully setting and achieving these goals is more than just a “task oriented” exercise because it also requires you to be mindful of what you are doing, why you are doing it, and how you feel afterwards. Therefore, each goal you achieve serves to:

  • diminish any uncertainty you felt about making changes
  • keep you from becoming stressed out or overwhelmed
  • fortify your motivation
  • renew your energy and enthusiasm to take the next step
  • realize another level of self-awareness
  • reinforce your committment

Before you know it, an upward spiral of of self-awareness and commitment — of desire and action — develops whereby you are not just making changes in your life, you are managing your life.
